Minimum Qualifications
|
- Valid Ohio teaching license appropriate for the assigned grade level and subject area.
- Meets all Ohio Department of Education and Workforce certification and licensure requirements.
- Demonstrates knowledge of effective instructional practices and classroom management strategies.
- Ability to support diverse learners and implement instructional interventions when needed.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to effectively use instructional technology and digital learning tools.
- Successful completion of all required background checks and district hiring requirements.
- Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test, etc.).

- Teach assigned classes and implement the district’s adopted curriculum and course of study.
- Design and deliver engaging learning experiences aligned to academic standards and learning objectives.
- Maintain written lesson plans and instructional materials that support effective instruction.
- Establish and maintain effective classroom management practices and uphold the district’s student handbook.
- Create a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement, respect, and belonging.
- Use multiple data sources to assess student needs, monitor progress, and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Implement instructional strategies and interventions that address diverse learning needs and support student success.
- Communicate high expectations for all students and actively monitor student progress.
- Develop students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance instruction and student outcomes.
- Integrate appropriate instructional technology and digital tools to support teaching, learning, and recordkeeping.
- Support students in accessing the learning environment and participating in instructional activities.
- Implement intervention strategies and support student progress within the district’s IMTSS framework.
- Maintain accurate student records and submit grades, assessments, and required documentation in a timely manner.
- Assess student learning and communicate progress to students and families through conferences, reports, and other communication methods. Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress and needs.
- Work with support staff and student services personnel to address academic, behavioral, attendance, and wellness concerns.
- Participate in student support processes and team meetings when concerns regarding student learning or well-being arise.
- Support the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504 plans, and other student support plans as applicable.
- Promote inclusive educational practices and provide opportunities for students with disabilities to participate fully in classroom activities.
- Participate in professional learning and continuous improvement activities to remain current with effective instructional practices.
- Participate in assigned duties, meetings, and school activities.

Other Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Prepares the assigned classroom, requisitions essential supplies and equipment, and promotes the proper use and care of school property.
- Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.
- Promotes a favorable image of the school district.
- Monitors use of the Intra/Internet to ensure compliance with district guidelines.
- Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
- Takes precautions to ensure student safety. Does not leave students unsupervised. Reports unauthorized persons or suspicious circumstances immediately.
- Supervises non-classroom activities when assigned.
- Participates in after-school programs (e.g., open houses, etc.) as directed.
- Complete required training by appropriate deadlines (Vector, Gifted, Science of Reading, etc.)
- Accepts responsibility for personal decisions and conduct. Strives to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others.
- Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.

- Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens, communicable diseases, and other health-related risks common to school settings.

- May work in environments with moderate-to-loud noise levels, typical of school settings.
- Duties may require supervision of students in various environments, including classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playgrounds, athletic events, field trips, and other school activities.
- Exposure to adverse weather conditions and seasonal temperature extremes when supervising students outdoors or during school activities.
- Duties may require working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
- Duties may include occasional evening or weekend responsibilities such as conferences, meetings, or school events.
- May be required to assist with student safety procedures, emergency drills, and crisis response activities consistent with district policies.
- Duties may require operating or riding in a vehicle for school-related purposes.
Physical Demands
- Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, and use hands for instructional and clerical tasks.
- Duties may require reaching, stretching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, or climbing.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of instructional materials, equipment, or supplies up to approximately 50 pounds.

Supervisory Responsibilities
|

Provides direction and guidance to assigned support staff and volunteers as directed by the principal to support effective classroom operations and student learning.

Performance Evaluations
|

Job performance is evaluated in accordance with the policy provisions adopted by the Fostoria City School District Board of Education.
