Athletic Trainer

Job Objectives
|
Provide proper care for athletes and ensure all injuries are handled appropriately.
|
Minimum Qualifications
|
- Certified as an Athletic Trainer
- Experience preferred but not required
- Dedicated to the safety and educating our youth to practice a lifelong healthy lifestyle
- Dedicated to athletic and academic excellence
|
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable qualification can be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.

- Provide proper care for injured athletes
- Attend meetings and in-service as required
- Collaborate with colleagues
- Establish cooperative relationships with local hospitals, rehabilitation centers, etc.
- Ensure safety of students
- Evaluate each student’s growth in physical skills, flexibility, power, strength, and speed development
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required
- Maintain control of storage and use of school-owened property
- Mantain respect at all times for confidential information
- Monitor locker room for safety and security
- Provide guidance to students to promote their healthy development
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities
- Respond to routine questions and requests in a timely, appropriate manner
- Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships
- Follow all athletic and Board policies

Other Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

- Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.
- Promotes a favorable image of the school district.
- Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
- Takes precautions to ensure student safety. Does not leave students unsupervised. Reports unauthorized persons or suspicious circumstances immediately.
- Participates in after-school programs (e.g., open houses, etc.) as directed.
- Complete required training by appropriate deadlines (Vector, Gifted, Science of Reading, etc.)
- Accepts responsibility for personal decisions and conduct. Strives to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others.
- Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.

(Additional) Working Conditions: Exposure to the following situations may range from remote to frequent, depending on circumstances and factors that are not predictable.

- Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
- Potential for interaction with disruptive and/or unruly individuals.
- Exposure to adverse weather conditions and seasonal temperature extremes.
- Duties may require operating and/or riding in a vehicle.
- Duties may require detailed paperwork.
- Duties may require working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
- Duties may require working during the evening and/or weekend.

Supervisory Responsibilities
|
Under the direction of the Athletic Director: provides instructions and communicates expectations to assigned
staff, temporary employees, and trainees. Monitors and helps assigned staff successfully accomplish delegated duties.

Performance Evaluations
|
Job performance is evaluated according to the policy provisions adopted by the Fostoria City School District Board of
Education.
